ELKE
ELKE was designed as a response to what it’s four members wanted so badly to hear in the QLD music scene. Beginning in late 2007, the boys spent close to six months simply as a recording band before their first gig amongst the Queensland finalists of the MTV Kickstart competition. It wasn’t long before people started to take notice of ELKE’s infectious self-produced recordings and the shows began to line up around the block. Having shared the Goodvibes stage with acts such as Chromeo, The Presets, and Fatboy Slim, ELKE have also played support slots for international groups, Datarock (Norway), Ratatat (USA) as well as Australian wunderkinds, Grafton Primary, Van She, Lost Valentinos, and Art Vs Science.
From humble beginnings recording in a bedroom, the ELKE sound has developed into a unique and powerful style that is unmistakable. Zach (Vocals/Keys), Dave (Guitar/Keys), Joel (Drums), and James (Bass) write songs possessed of a classic pop sensibility, but with an independent flair that rises from the deepest realms of good taste.
“Elke play a set of gentle synth pop songs at the Fire Stage, and the small crowd sway along blissfully in the early afternoon heat. In years to come, these scruffy youngsters will definitely be moving higher up the bill at festivals like these.”
- Parklife - 26th September 09 - Rave
“Fresh from the launch of their debut EP, local lads Elke are first on tonight’s bill. Elke play gentle synth pop tunes straight from the soundtrack of an ‘80s John Hughes flick,.... they are quickly shaping up to be an excellent live band”
- The Zoo - 12th August 09 - Rave

bertie page clinic (live)
red devotchkin//julz divine

Bertie Page Clinic is the perverted child of burlesque and classic rock. Australian Cabaret star Bertie Page heads up this wicked little band of retrograde rockers. Their punchy tracks are a collabration between Miss. Page and composer Phill Wilson (Chucknee, Deep Blue Orchestra, founding member of BlowHard). These witty works combine the best elements of yacht rock, punk and poodle rock, pulled off with a Jim Steinman flair.
The instrumental lineup features the finest of Brisbane's underground music scene, John Meyer (The Good Ship), Clint Morrow (The Soundcasters) and James Lees (Silver Sircus). Bertie leads the charge with her hard belting vocals and sees that her stable of fine young men are kept in line.
Burly-rock will be upon us soon! Bertie Page Clinic's debut album is to be released in summer 2010.

the radio club band

Radio Club Band is Australia’s most vibrant, fun and professional band!
The flavour of their show is always customised to the crowd, and although they have built their reputation around dance-floor music they are also completely at home with the more chilled tunes that work well earlier on in the evening. With their huge range of songs, they are capable of making sure that there is something for everybody. Despite being a young band, Radio Club Band already have an enviable reputation in the industry, and many of Australia's premier venues recommend them as their "band of choice", for their professionalism, and sheer entertainment value.
Each of these full-time, industrial-strength musicians in this band were hand-picked from around the country, and are exceptional performers, with at least 10 years of experience in professional live performance - it is an all-star band, and you can see their passion for music just by watching them!

★ James Holden ★
The wunderkind James Holden has finally come of age, and has delivered up the debut album to prove it: and about time too! For although the world seems strangely intent on fixing him in his early twenties (or more specifically, a series of internet sites who have seemingly overlooked the fact that biography ages require a yearly update!), the time has come to acknowledge that DJ and producer James Holden is not quite so young any more. The timely release of Holden's 'The Idiots Are Winning' mini-album in 2006 marked the occasion, and formed a fitting musical illustration of Holden's newfound maturity. His supreme and unrivalled command of the modern technology available to him allows Holden to go where other DJs fear to tread, consistently pulling off daring mixes on-the-fly which just wouldn't be possible on a conventional two turntable set-up. And so distinct is the resultant sound that your average conservative dance music night can barely contain it, which is why James Holden is often best experienced alongside his edgy label mates at one of his many Border Community label nights, at Corsica Studios in London, across some of Europe's best clubs, and beyond. Holden's status as an exemplary DJ free- spirit has recently been acknowledged by legendary indie label !K7, who have signed James up to mix the next compilation in their highly acclaimed DJ Kicks mix series, and we wait excitedly to learn where he will drive the scene next in his latest mix CD missive: look out for the release and accompanying worldwide tour from May 2010 onwards.
