FINALLY EVENTS FOR MUSICIANS AND INDUSTRY PEOPLE ALIKE.

AAA Backstage are events specifically run for people in the MUSIC INDUSTRY - Showing how to break into the industry by providing musicians with an opportunity to showcase their talent, hear from industry leaders and those who have already made it in the industry.

Unlike anything offered to a live audience in the past, these quarterly events are a combination of stage show, exhibition, information and mentoring. Rather than focusing on one topic or speaker, Backstage has several elements and attractions, in order to capture the attention of the music industry, from musicians, sound engineers, promoters, to record labels, band managers and industry suppliers.

Launching June 2009 in Brisbane the events will be:

Inspiring – you’ll view stunning and inspirational work developed by local musicians and suppliers to the music industry.

Educational – timely and relevant content will be presented by a highly regarded speaker at each event. An onsite product or service demonstration will provide further information and education for attendees.

Entertaining – a musician, band or group will showcase their music at each event.

pinksilver vs snubb

markojux (melb) vs sandy sitlani (ger)

fuzion, china white & mike redfern

MarkoJux (Mark Baumann) purchased his first pair of turntables in 2004. It was at this point his appetite for electronic music really took off. Now adding to his performance with Rane Serato and Abelton Live, Mark has created a platform to play his own music, his own way.

Mark has been writing music for the past 3 years, all of this motivation came from exposure to the awesome music scene he discovered in London from 2000 – 2004. Mark's productions bring together a mixture of deep techno & isolated grooves; with an aim to produce post-modernistic music in order to create emotion through sound, scape and reduction.

Together alongside friends Daniel Filipovic & Lance Harrison, Mark has started Melbourne’s first netlabel – Pinksilver. A fresh new digital label showcasing up & coming artists dedicated to releasing avant-garde electronic music; music that sits within modern, off-beat house & hypnotic deep techno.

Sandy, originally from India, has spent the past few years pursuing his musical career. He spent a few years in Dubai and it was there that Sandy flourished as a DJ. His versatility soon earned him a number of residencies, one of which was at Enigma, the biggest club in Abu Dhabi, where he played along side the likes of Dave Seaman, James Lavelle, Alex Miles and Matty Wells (Smartie Partie). Other residencies and guest spots included Dubai’s best nightclubs, Trilogy and Chi, as well as being a regular feature at Warped, Dubai’s most famous techno night. Sandy was also part of nights such as Shindig, Cocoon and Global Underground, and supported the likes of M.A.N.D.Y., Scarlett Etienne, Adam Kroll and Aaron Ross. Currently Sandy resides in Australia studying the art of audio engineering while managing Snubb Records.
Barsoma has built a reputation for being one of Brisbane’s most forward thinking venues when it comes to music, and after witnessing some incredible events there we knew it would compliment these labels and their musicians.

This weekend Barsoma will host the collaboration of these to formable music forces, for the launch of Snubb’s fourth release ‘Caliper EP by MarkoJux’. The two head honchos of both labels, MarkoJux and Sandy
Sitlani, will be joined by a bevy of popular local acts including Fuzion, Mike Redfern and China White for a night of quality underground music.

me and the grownups

the perfect storm tour

Me and the Grownups have been together since November 2006. We released our first album, Battling the Mountains, the Sky and the Sea through Planet/MGM in July 2008. Our second album, Knowing Lovers, Naive Lovers, was released in February 2009 and is in stores now; waiting for your hot little hands to exchange a small portion of legal tender for it. Our backgrounds are diverse – Anita has her roots in singer-songwriting and traditional folk, Adrian is an acoustic guitarist and Dreyfus is a classical violinist, violist and composer. Despite these differences, we share an amazingly similar musical vision.

Dj Kaos - DJ Kaos is an integral part of the Berlin underground scene, producing a variety of twisted dance music for a number of years now. His first single was a collaboration with Ash Ra Temple’s Manuel Goettsching (of E2-E4 fame.) The 12", made in 1991 when Kaos was part of downtempo scene leaders Terranova, was called "Toyko Tower" He's performed all over the Globe, from Europe, Brazil to the US. He has released original music on such seminal dance labels as Eskimo, Kitsune, For Disco Only, as well as early singles for Rong Music and now Rong/DFA. His remixes have proven in demand, remixing everyone from !!! (Chk Chk Chk) to Roxy Music to the New Young Pony Club. Kaos is a part of the exclusive K7 Records DJ Kicks mix series with his eclectic mix released in 1995, as well as his full-length solo LP released on K7 in 2005 featuring such vocal talents as Erlend Øye, Matt Safer (the Rapture) and Cpt. Canyons - Canyons equal two DJ’s/producers Leo Holiday and Ryan Sea-mist. Drawing influences from the far corners of planet Earth and beyond, Canyons’ music strikes a balance between sand dunes and icebergs, psych and acid house, volcanos and valleys, pop and disco, fiction and fact. Not ones to claim genres or adhere to them, the Canyons approach to writing music is one of intuition and feel. Dancing is encouraged, quiet listening works just as well.

Canyons just signed with Modular and are working on their debut album, set for release in 2010. They've also got two 12"s due out in the following months. The first is *Blue Snakes*; scheduled for release in May on I'm a Cliche and the second is *Fire Eyes*; out on DFA August 11th...
